CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL SPECIFICATION

Excavation

Excavation will be done manually or mechanically avoiding damages to existing structures and properties.

Hard earth filling

Selected good quality gravel filling under floor rammed and consolidate in layers of 300 mm

Concrete work

Cement

Will be Portland cement of any of following brands. Sanstha, Ceylinco L &T, Tokyo super.

Sand

Well graded sand/ River Sand

Metal

Reinforcement steel

Steel will be comply with B.S.4449 and 4483 as applicable brands with the SLS and ISO standards, CHICO (Sanstha ), Melwa or GTB.

Form work

The form work will be sufficient strength rigidity and tightness as required to support and maintain the concrete in its correct position and to carry the necessary constructional traffic.

Steel form work for columns and 18mm thick coated plywood from work for slabs and beams would be used. 15mm thick plywood formwork will be used for tie beams.

Brick works

Engineering bricks (200mmx100mmx80mm) ( Dankotuwa, Mallawagedara)

Block work

Cement block 12”x6” thickness 4”

Doors

Door frames will be 3”x4” size “tolang” and door sashes will be 1 ¼” thick teak with water base paint.

Aluminum Works – ( Windows )

Alumex or equivalent brand will be used

Electrical works

All internal lighting & power wiring shall comply with the layout drawings &shall be in full PVC. Insulated copper cables. All conduits shall be buried in to brick walls, roof slab, beams or columns.
